The Unity Fund is a one-year campaign, launched on September 17th, 2009, to make our merger a success by raising $100,000 in donations from individuals. The Unity Fund Campaign will dramatically increase the amount of support Causa Justa :: Just Cause receives from grassroots donors, members and supporters. We know that the future success of the organization will depend on consistent, reliable support from our constituency and those who believe in our mission. We have developed a plan that will engage every sector of supporters. There is a place for you to be involved.

The first step in supporting the Unity Fund is by making a donation yourself. We are asking every supporter to sign up for a $10 monthly donation for one year. By giving monthly, you don’t hurt your bank account and you give us a strong, sustaining source of support for the coming year. Of course, one-time donations are also welcomed. Organize your friends to donate online!

We have launched a web-based fundraising campaign for our supporters to pledge support and organize their friends to donate. At firstgiving.com, you can make your own page to support the Unity Fund and get your friends to pledge support. It’s easy and quick to set up and email your friends to ask for their support. PLUS, there will be prizes for whoever can raise the most funds by May 1.

Run for Justice!

2010 marks the beginning of a new decade of struggle for a just Oakland and the first time in 25 years that Oakland will host a marathon. The run will be on March 28th and will be a celebration of Oakland's rich history of community resistance in the Fruitvale, Chinatown and West Oakland neighborhoods. While Causa Justa :: Just Cause gears up our fight for racial and economic justice, we are planning to run 13.1 miles (a half-marathon) as a contingent to raise money for the Unity Fund. As part of our team, you will receive a t-shirt, take part in a historic event, support a fierce grassroots organization with your sponsors, and celebrate with us in a post-marathon party.

This is a great opportunity to raise funds and get in shape at the same time!

House Parties

There is no better way to raise money than to get your friends together, have some food and drink, tell them how much you love Just Cause, and ask them to write a check. This is a time-tested and fun way to build political and financial support for a cause, a Just Cause! This part of the campaign will start in March, but you can begin planning now. Latest News for the Unity Fund Campaign

Our first general meeting of the Unity Fund team was on January 19th! Supporters and members gathered to strategize about how we are going to launch the next phase of the campaign and raise the remaining $75,000 we need by September. It was an exciting liftoff for the group, and we are excited to report that YOU TOO will have a chance to attend a Unity Fund meeting to get involved.
