Bridges of Solidarity/Puentes Solidarios
Thank you to those who were able to join us for Puentes Solidarios, a celebration of Causa Justa :: Just Cause’s work to build unity between Black and Latino communities, and organize everyday people to make change.
We were moved by member testimonies, ranging from shaky-voiced first-time public speakers to old pros like Margarita Ramirez and Alma Blackwell, who are used to shutting down Big Bank shareholder meetings on bullhorns.
We were moved to dance by African Roots of Jazz, DJ Bobbi and Favi Estrella. We were moved to vote by the announcement that CA Prop 30 would tax the rich and dedicate the money to social services, and CA Prop 24 would end the death penalty.
We were moved to be in the beautiful Islamic Cultural Center, along with 500 others who believe it’s about time to build a multi-racial movement for racial and economic justice, starting at the grassroots.
Thanks to all of you, we had a sold-out event, that raised lots of money! And most of our members who attended the event donated. Can you join our members and make a gift to support our work? Click here to do so.
Or buy the shirt Dignidad Rebelde designed for the occasion, “In every barrio, on every block, organize!”
