The East Bay Immigrant Youth Coalition (EBIYC) joins statewide demands for Governor Brown to sign the TRUST Act

What: As part of the “UNDOCUMENTED CARAVAN TO RESTORE TRUST FOR CALIFORNIA”, the East Bay Immigrant Youth Coalition (EBIYC) and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) will rally along side with LGBTQ community members outside the Mission’s newly created, landmark “Undocuqueer” billboard, at the Galeria de la Raza, in support for the passage of the TRUST Act.  The anti-deportation bill will be heard in the State Senate’s Public Safety Committee the following day.


Who: Over 30 riders from the UndocuCaravan traveling from across the state, unite with Bay Area immigrant community members, undocuqueer supporters and allies.

In the wake of a grandiose victory for the LGBTQ community across California and in the heels of the Pride Parade, undocumented LGBTQ declare  “LGBTQ RIGHTS ARE IMMIGRANT RIGHTS!” and call for the passage of the TRUST Act.


While same sex couples can now sponsor their spouse to attain a green card, our greater undocuqueer community continues to be targeted by anti immigrant policies. As we celebrate the victory within the LGBTQ community, we recognize that undocuqueer individuals are still being deported everyday.

The TRUST Act would alleviate the lives of many undocumented individuals, many of whom identify as queer or trans. Many undocumented LGBTQ individuals settle in the United States fleeing anti LGBTQ sentiment in their countries. In the U.S. they find greater acceptance of their identity but ironically they also find their most basic human rights threatened with profiling, unjust detentions and deportations.


On this day, immigrant communities across California  call for an end to collaboration between local police departments and Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE).  We ask for Governor Brown to pass the TRUST Act (AB4) and to restore trust for all of California’s families.
